Renewing the Library’s commitment to serving students and the community;
Clarifying the Library’s mission, including how services and programs for students and the community can best support the mission;
Training staff in the developmental stages and needs of community;
Encouraging a system-wide change in attitudes and behaviors toward students/community;
Inviting parents, educators and other members of the community to join in defining areas of need and planning services and programs;
Involving students and educators in the planning, designing and delivery of services;
Forging partnerships and collaborations with schools, youth and school-serving organizations and agencies; and
Adopting a “positive youth development” philosophy – practices pioneered by the student service field that focus on helping the students to develop the academic, social and career skills they need and to actively support the attainment of the school objectives.
